Time zone abbreviations
Abbreviations like EST or CET name a time zone and whether it is on standard or daylight time. They are not unique:AST, BST, CDT, CST, GST and IST each mean more than one zone, so for anything that matters, write the UTC offset too. Daylight saving names (EDT, CEST, …) are only correct during the summer part of the year.
